J.R. Vinagro was tasked with and selected for demolition and replacement of the bridge carrying I-95 over Wellington Avenue in Cranston, RI. Alexa Schlosser, part of National Demolition Association Magazine states, “J.R. Vinagro, a renowned demolition company selected for its proven… track record in performing expedited demolition for rapid bridge replacement and a competitive bid price.”
Highway closure for bridge demolition created a time crunch for this project. J.R. Vinagro had to complete this job within 4 consecutive weekends, working 12-hour shifts. This time constraint left no room for errors.
Due to effective strategizing, multiple excavators were staggered along the bridge. This maximized the number of machines removing the bridge deck, from the middle of the structure out, while also ensuring the structure was not overloaded. This strategy allowed the crew to finish with hours to spare every weekend. Rapid removal of the debris was imperative to the operation as well. With a fleet of over a dozen dump trailers, J.R. Vinagro was able to remove debris as demolition progressed and fully recycle the bridge in our facility in Johnston, RI. J.R. Vinagro’s timely demolition work allowed the General Contractor to complete their work ahead of schedule, resulting in the highway being opened back up earlier than required.
